Car accident frustrations

Claire and I were rear ended on saturday morning while waiting to make a right turn on to old hwy 41.  The woman behind be was on her cell phone and admitedly NOT paying attention to the road. Everyone is all right but she did a good bit of damage to my bumper and trunk. So it’s at the shop now and I am driving a mazda 5 ( a surprisingly delightful little vehicle). The shop owner was pretty clear with me. If the damage exceeds 60% of the yellow book value (for the sentra that would be 3200 meaning damages can’t exceed 1900) they will contact insurance and it means it’s totalled out. Meaning i would get a check based on the depreciated value of the vehicle (given that it was in an accident). So… to get this straight. Woman hits me. She’s at fault.  Cost to fix is more than my car is worth… even though my car would have lasted another 100,000 miles and had a couple years of life left and i’m now going to be stuck getting a check that wouldn’t be half as much as i would need to simply rebuy the car i have.  This just stinks. Not sure what we are going to do yet.

I heart working from home

Just had to share. It’s so nice to not have to spend 2 hours of my day in a car. Starting this week, I can work from home once a week.

First tooth and shoulder issues

Claire officially has her first tooth. Her bottom front tooth has now broken the surface. Good times… although it hasn’t caused a problem with nursing yet. I will keep my fingers crossed.

I went to Dr. Payne (the orthopedist) this morning. He gave me a cortisone shot in my shoulder and some exercises to do daily in the shower. I will also have to go to physical therapy 3 times/ week for the next 3 weeks and then I have a followup scheduled for the 25th. Sigh… Lets add that up, in copays that will be 275 dollars over the next 3 weeks. Urgh. For now the diagnosis is adhesive capsulitis. Causes of adhesive capsulitis include hypothyroidism. Since I’m not over 40, diabetic, or suffering from osteoperosis I’m thinking that is the likely cause. I’m beginning to worry about my ultrasound with Dr. Silverman in september. Hopefully it will com back clean.

Happy 4th of July!

Still sick

Claire is home from day care for a second day. Her cough is worse than yesterday but i’m hoping we are cresting the hill if you will. She is still a pretty happy baby but it makes it hard for her to sleep comortably and of course it’s not fun to yack up half of what you eat:( I’m still sick as well but beginning to feel better. I had already taken a personal day today to get some work done around the house but I was obviously otherwise occupied.

I had a doc appt yesterday as well with the endocrinologist. Ultrasound came back inconclusive. They found several nodes again at the base of my neck. There is a small possibility that it was just because I’m sick so here is hoping. They are going to follow up again in 3 months to see if they have grown at all. Bummer.

Poor Claire, Poor Mom, Poor Dad

All are sick here at the Kinnaman household. We finally succumbed to the cold that has been lingering for weeks. Kyle took Claire to the doc today and they said there wasn’t much to do but let it run its course and give her saline spray in her nose to help clear congestion. She’s been really congested and spitting up abnormal amounts. They said the mucus upsets her stomach which is why she’s been spitting up so much as it’s her only way to get it out of her body. Hopefully it clears up in a few days. Kyle and I have been sick as well but are on the mend. I completely lost my voice yesterday which was a new thing for me. So Happy Fathers Day Kyle… he got a whole day without me talking:)

I apologize for the lack of pictures. I’ve been taking them but my computer has been on the fritz and thankfully Kyle has the stuff to fix it so I should be able to post those pretty soon. My laptop is just falling apart at the seams but I don’t want to buy a new one until we can afford something that Kyle can use for all of his purposes and I can still use it for me. I think Kyle has some video too. We are trying to capture Claire’s giggles. I fully intended to update this more than I do but life is just unexpectedly busy. Today alone, I’ve got work, then pick up claire (430ish), take her home and feed her, then go back out to pick up meds for Kasey and Gypsy, hopefully return a swimsuit to babies r us then home again to feed her again, followed by dinner, bath, feeding, bed. It’s like that everyday it seems. Does it ever end?
