2 month appt

Claire had her two month appointment yesterday. She is 13lbs, 12 oz and 23.5 inches long. Head circumference is 16 inches so she is 95th percentile across the board. She had 5 different vaccines yesterday. Yes, I got all of the recommended ones. I’m kind of up in the air on some of the vaccines she will require over her lifetime. The only one she got yesterday that i don’t quite understand is the Hep B vaccine. Pretty sure she isn’t promiscuous or an IV drug user at this age. I wonder why they recommend it?

She cried when the shots were administered (full on purple face) but i was able to nurse her immediately after and she calmed right down. She was in a bit of pain around 2pm but I gave her one more dose of tylenol and she was fine the rest of the day.

Have I mentioned that being able to nurse my child is one of my joys in life these days? It’s just such a wonderful thing. I cannot fathom how anyone would choose to pass up these moments with their child. Now, if only my child didn’t audibly enjoy it so much. Many who see Claire know that she is a talkative little baby. She is constantly cooing and communicating with anyone that will listen (I woke up in the middle of the night to her quietly talking to herself last night). This carries over to her feeding though. Anyone within a ten foot radius can here her gulping, sighing and talking as she eats. It’s pretty funny but kind of out of place at church and a few other places. It makes it hard for me to be discreet about it.  Starting this coming month, I’m joining my local La Leche group. It’s a cause I feel passionate about and oddly, woman who share views on such critical issues as breastfeeding tend to share other mothering views as well. That’s all for now. I’m sure I will have more pictures up this weekend so check back.
